BIOGRAPHY
There's only one CAPTAIN DANGER.
Dressed in polyester, stratocaster guitar over his shoulder, he's ready
to save the day.
Like Don Quixote, CAPTAIN DANGER is here to challenge the dragons in our
everyday lives . . . with a soundtrack instead of a sword.
It's memorable, quirky pop with an obvious appeal.
Says CMJ: "[CAPTAIN DANGER does] the perfect pop formula so well it doesn't feel formulaic at all." Songs by CAPTAIN DANGER feature big choruses served up in musical backdrops with a distinctive flavor.
While CAPTAIN DANGER lyrics often explore ironies, oddities and absurdities, always in the mix is a timeless pop tune backbone.
Additionally the CAPTAIN DANGER experience is clearly marked by a particular sense of personality.
"When I think about songs I love, it seems like in some way it's the songwriter's individuality that's adding that special something," CAPTAIN DANGER shares, discussing influences like Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, Curtis Mayfield, Nellie McKay, André
3000, Elvis Costello, James Brown, Tom Lehrer, Beck and Prince.
Born in San Francisco, CAPTAIN DANGER (né Aaron Steinberg), migrated to New
York City, where interplay with outstanding musicians helped foster an angular,
funky "rhythm guitar thing" that fans identify as a trademark.
Live performance highlights have included SXSW, CMJ and Arlene's Grocery's
"Best OF NY" CD. Look for CAPTAIN DANGER this summer performing live
on Showtime's new series "The Green Room with Paul Provenza" (featuring Andy Dick, Paul Mooney, Eddie Izzard and Rain Pryor).
More recently, CAPTAIN DANGER has added a Los Angeles headquarters, in part to
complement soundtrack and theme song production (www.chemicalmusic.com).
Join the email list and stay tuned for the fantabulous adventures ahead
for CAPTAIN DANGER.
"All music is
folk music. I ain't never heard a horse sing a song."
